Are There Still Steroids in Baseball?

Posted on: June 7, 2011 by No Comments

Baseball is still recovering from news of steroids found in their players on most of the teams. It seems many players may have skated by due to their lack luster performances during many seasons. However, many players that have done well have been questioned thanks to links from people surrounding them claiming they have used muscle enhancing substances.

In any case, for now baseball teams and their players are out of the spotlight. Has the MLB doe enough to keep players tested and free from these substances though? There are many different substances out there and testing for them all can be tough. So only time will tell if the MLB is clean or not. We hope to see that there are no major rule infractions. Sure, some players may feel they need to break them, but hopefully the league will be there to stop these guys for the fans sake.

The MLB’s Image

Posted on: November 13, 2010 by No Comments

Certainly the image of baseball and the MLB has been tainted by the steroid scandals. Fans still want to see some baseball though. Certainly for some fans the steroid issues have been tough to deal with. Remember that some of the players involved had huge followings from tons of fans. So when a player comes out and finally admits to cheating by taking illegal drugs to the league, the fan will naturally be hurt. There was nothing natural really about that player’s performance while they were taking steroids.

Maybe now things will calm down some. Will the players stop taking drugs? Is it still going on? Only time will tell for sure.

Drugs And The Minors

Posted on: February 22, 2010 by No Comments

The steroid issue with the MLB is not only tied to the man rosters on the teams, but also heavily in the minor league system. The Rangers just had one of their pitchers test positive for illegal substances and was suspended 50 games for the incident. Fifty games doesn’t seem too heavy of a penalty in one sense. If it is wrong and a huge issue within the MLB, why not more? The tougher the consequences of breaking the rule, the fewer the players there may be that try it. This is especially true with an issue that has really had a huge negative impact on the game. Steroids have really given the MLB a black eye. When players continue to ignore the rules with drugs the fans will continue to question the integrity of the game. It can be tough to watch something as some fans have and find excitement in it when you know that the players could be using drugs. Imagine the thrill of watching some of the past players break records but who have now admitted using steroids. It’s only years later we realized they did it on illegal substances. It’s very disappointing. It seems the MLB still has along way to go with this issue.

Baseball Season Nearing End!

Posted on: October 14, 2009 by No Comments

As another year wraps up on yet another MLB season, I began to wonder if the stench of the steroid issue will ever leave the game. To me, watching numerous players play, it is always in the back of my head wondering whether or not they are using illegal drugs.

Whether you think they deserve it or not, these guys make loads of money. With that type of salary should come some responsibility. In my opinion the MLB missed the boat. More testing and a strict testing schedule would have deterred this, but instead things went un-noticed for so long. I am beginning to wonder how many blind eyes were turned to what was going on so many years ago.

I must say it would be nice to hear of nobody coming out having to admit that they are using drugs. This has gone on long enough and the true fans of the game would love to see some change from the MLB offices and the players.

So we shall see what the 2010 season brings, and hopefully any drama will come on the field during the game rather than off the field!
