MLB And The Instant Replay

Here is yet another article discussing some of the most recent incidents involving MLB umpires. Once you see a couple of calls that the article discusses, you will see why it is tough not wanting to do something about the blown calls.

Now that the NFL seems to be successfully using the instant replay, why not do the same thing in the MLB. I could never imagine it being used for balls and strikes, but for calls such at this, maybe it would work.

People out there have suggested that maybe giving the coach a couple of call review options during a 9 inning game could work. Baseball games are long; you don’t want to slow them down even more. The instant replays in the NFL can take a ton of time. But in baseball, nobody wants to wait that long.

For now it seems like the blown calls will have to stay. The umpires are not perfect nor do some of us expect them to be. But it may be nice to have on an occasion a chance for a team to have a really tough call reviewed. Blown calls can really affect the game in a huge way.
