Silly Injuries

Rarely does it make then news, but sometimes in baseball there is what is called silly injuries to players. These injuries in one sense can be serious and render a player unable to play for several games, yet at the same time these injuries are caused by a silly series of events. For example, back in the 90′s a player, no names here, appeared on the Leno show. He was offered a prize, a woman no doubt, if he were able to throw a baseball and knock down some bottles from a distance. He was a pitcher for the cardinals at the time. Without warming up at all, he hurled the ball and knocked them down. Next he proceeded to carry off his prize as a part of the stunt. Between him carrying off the woman and throwing the ball hard without warm up, he ended up with a pretty serious injury. Sure, it seems silly to us, but not to the pitcher or the team. So if you play ball, please be careful as to not injure yourself in a way that will reflect poorly on you. Injuries happen, but they can often be avoided by being careful.
