agreeableone asked: While watching the league playoffs, I wondered where did these guys come from? They are from different countries, ethnic groups, religions and have a wide variety of ages and physiques.
Have you read a book, or studied baseball players and baseball for a long time? Did you learn what brings one young boy up to the major leagues, while another never leaves the sand lot or little league?

Traditionally baseball players wear their socks over the bottom of their pants up to the knee. Most major league ball players wear their pants over the socks down to the shoes. I am curious as to when this started.

I’ve notices this while watching baseball games on television. When the batter gets a hit and goes to first base, before the pitcher faces the next batter the baserunner and first baseman will talk to each other. What do they say?

Ally White asked:
After several days of negotiation the baseball players Thomas Field and Mike Hart received their one year deal contracts with their teams Oakland and Colorado respectively; both players were drafted during the 2008 MLB draft.
Field and Hart were previously drafted last June 6 but there was a 60-day period in order to settle the agreements otherwise they would be required to return to their college teams. Anyhow; the players signed and now they play for the Major Leagues.
Hart who had an extraordinary season was drafted by the Athletics; he states that “ the whole time, I was thinking about what would be best for me and my family,†Hart said. “I’ve always wanted to play professional baseball. I made my decision pretty much the day I was drafted.â€
In the beginning Hart was part of this group that had produced several good pitchers who were part of the Major Leagues; very quickly he was then signed and preparing in Arizona to start his professional career. “It felt like time was flying by,†Hart said. “From the time I was drafted until now, it feels like life is moving at a million miles per second.â€
Hart will possibly shift to a low A-ball after he obtaining his passport which is required in order to play with the Vancouver Canadians in the Northwest League. Hart would link with other drafted players such as: Jason Christian and Shawn Haviland. Moreover; Hart will have the opportunity to play against Field, who was send to Tri-City Washington after signing his. Field has played two games with the Tri-City during which he went 1 for 3 with two runs scored.
“It’s still baseball, but the game is a lot faster here,†Field said. “I couldn’t play the first few games since I?didn’t have my physical, but now I’m getting into a groove. It’s great playing with their top picks, but I?think I?stack up pretty well,†Field said. “No matter where we were drafted, we’re all at the same place now.â€
The maiden season of these two players will be spent with their current teams but there could be additional options if their performance excel the expectations in the Major League. Both players are skilled and well trained to fill the stats and do extremely if we take into account their junior seasons.
Hart ended his career at Texas State in third place on the all-time strikeout list with 227. He also won the All-Southland third team honors. On the other hand; Field guided the SLC in triples with a total of seven and was named SLC Hitter of the Week. Field also received the great compliment by going 15 for 22 by way of three home runs and 10 RBIs.
These players are aware their achievements will not be easy to fulfill as both are required to work hard and earn every inning of playing time. Hart and Field could have the opportunity of getting Major League action anytime in the next two or three years if they continue their hard work.
