Do you remember, etched in history for eternity, the sought after and colossal big foam finger. That’s right sports fans, you know all about the foam finger. How many of us out there could not have been more excited when we got our first big, number 1, with all of the team colors foamy finger to wave around? Sure, these may have annoyed some fans when they got in their way of watching the game, but as a kid who cared! It’s a big foamy finger thing and you wanted one. They may have cost 5 cents to make and cost 20 dollars at the game, but boy were they one of the best investments you had ever made while at the game!

Depending on what stadium you were at, they always had the walk around vendor guys, selling a 50 cent bottle of pop for 4 dollars and a 10 dollar bag of over salted peanuts. Well the prices may have varied some where you were at, but who could have ever forgotten the vendors that could throw with amazing accuracy to you your bag of peanuts from 10 rows down and 7 seats over. It was like they had been doing it their whole lives. Maybe they were a famous basketball player who passed the ball with perfect accuracy in the past, or one of the best pitchers to step on the mound. The way they could throw those peanuts, it sure made it seem like they were going to be legend at their job!

Heading to the ballgame on a giveaway night can be great. Sometimes you may get some playing cards, a special edition print, or a cheap plastic ball. But have you ever been to a game when they have given away team bats. Now this is not such an eco friendly thing to do now-a-days, but they used to give away real wooden baseball bats. As a kid, all you could say was, wow! Especially when people would leave theirs behind and you ended up with two or more!
But what was rough about bat night were the fans all coming up with the brilliant idea to pound them all on the bleachers. It was so loud, they would make so much noise you had no clue what was going on. I would say bat night was a huge promotions failure and in one way but in another way it was by far the best giveaway ever.

As a kid or even as an adult, there was something always so great about eating food at the ballpark. Maybe it was the msg in the food or the fake smells they put in that do it. Or maybe the excitement of the game made the cheap hotdogs taste like they cost a million dollars. Whatever it may have been, the food at the games was so good. But there was something extra special about having the hotdog or soda vendor walking around bringing food. They would hand your food off to the person at the end of the row and after about 10 people touched it, it was all yours! -Yummy!
No matter what, the food at the games was somehow extra tasty, and you know there was something even better about topping it all off with an ice cream sundae in a mini plastic batting helmet.
