Have you ever been to a game that was rained out or close to it? It can be amazing watching the field crew in action. The field or grounds crew can be a huge part of every game. They literally work hard to make sure the field is chalked, dragged and perfectly mowed right before game time. It actually is a very important and usually a well paid job to run a crew like this. You have to know lots about landscaping and how to keep a field such as this perfect at all times. Many people think that all the ground crew does is drag the filed some or rake it during the 7th inning stretch. Also many people see them drag the tarp on during a rain out. But be rest assured, they work constantly to make sure the field is perfect.

If you have been lucky enough to attend ball games in several different stadiums you know that there is probably one that is your favorite. Different stadiums can really change the atmosphere of the game. It is amazing how much of a difference there can be from one stadium to another. Teams like The Yankees and Rangers have put quite a bit of money into their new ballparks. Other teams like the White Sox did not at all. Imagine how hard it must be for someone from Chicago to go to Wrigley Field and then have to head across town to see the White Sox play. As far as the stadiums go there is no comparison.

Many times schools, agents, scouts, etc will use recruiting services to find them talent. The days of stumbling across a great player on a farm off some road in the middle of nowhere are long gone. Technology and statistics have changed the game of baseball forever. The game has changed dramatically over the last 20 years or so. Colleges will use these recruiting services to find them talent. This can be a much cheaper way of finding talent, better than having to do it themselves. Usually this will also save the college money. Agents will use the service as well to find their next big client. They want to sign the top players and where can you find them, on the web. There are tons of reports out there showing who the best players are in the country at any given time. These reports are very detailed and are usually updated regularly.
So if you love to watch sports, there may be a career in recruiting out there with one of these organizations just waiting for you. Experience in coaching or a sport related career would help, but you never know what may happen if you apply.

Baseball card conventions can be neat depending on their size. Collectors from all over come to the shows with tons of money invested into their collections. The cards they have can be amazing and the quantities of cards they have can be overwhelming as well.
For kids, they love to just look around and dream that one day they will open a pack of cards and get that special insert that is rare to find and worth lots of money. When they see that a collector has tons of them, they probably think to themselves ‘how do they do that’ when they cannot even find one. Either way, these shows can be great to see. If one is in town near you, consider stopping by.
