What can be more exciting about watching a game between division rivals, or a playoff game, or even the World Series? The answer is the giveaway night. That’s right, who knows a baseball fan who did not love going to the game to get their free super cheap souvenir.
You didn’t care what it was; you just wanted whatever it was. End of story. It didn’t matter where you sat, it didn’t matter if you already had one, there was something so special about getting that free team take home prize.
So the next time you want to take your kid to the game, try and consider taking them to a giveaway night. They will love you forever. You will be sure to get a world’s best parent coffee mug for Christmas if you do!

Out of the thousands of games played in baseball each year, I would say only a few ticket stubs end up becoming valuable. Say the game where Nolan Ryan got his 300th win or the game where someone threw a perfect game.
But as a kid really every game was special, for a while anyways. You wanted to keep every stub because to you it was important. Certainly these were not a big collectible that would retain much of a monetary value, well not unless you kept them for more than 75 years, but they were something to keep and enjoy. There may have been no historical significance, but you enjoyed it nonetheless.

Have you ever been to the game on a group night? Maybe your an adult and you went with your work or as a kid you went with your little league team to the game. There is something so fun about heading to the game with a bunch of people you want and like to be around. The time you have you end up treasuring for a long time. You even enjoy the time before and after the game.
As a kid there was something so great about wearing your little league jerseys. You imagined one day you may play in that very stadium. So if you have a chance to go to a game on a family or group night, try and enjoy if you can.

In 1974, pitcher Tommy John was the first pitcher in baseball to undergo this surgery. Basically when a pitcher has a UCL (ulnar collateral ligament) tear, they simply take some ligament/tendon from another part of the body to replace it. The procedure is tough on the pitchers pitching elbow. Many pitchers never quite recover to the strength they had before their problems. However, with advanced procedures in medicine now, players can often come back form this surgery full strength. It is a very risky surgery though. Once there is a tear in that area or a separation of that ligament in the elbow, it can easily occur again even though there was a surgical way to repair it. The recovery time is usally1.5 years or more before the pitcher can return to full pitching duties.
Stephen Starsburg is the latest victim. The rookie pitching sensation will now undergo the procedure to repair a tear in his pitching arm. This is a huge blow to the rookie and the Washington Nationals. For pitchers, this can happen at any time during a pitch or occur over a longer period of time gradually. So take care, eat right and do what you can to protect your pitching arm.
