Violence and the MLB

Many baseball fans are also fans of more contact style sports. These may include football, hockey, boxing, mixed martial arts, or even rugby. One must admit though that there is something nice about baseball being played in quite the opposite way. Nobody likes watching golf because the golfers spend time beating up on one another. They like the sport for what it is, as more of a gentlemanly approach to sports.

For many, baseball is really the same way. Sure, it has quite a bit more action than golf. And yes, you may see some outfielders plow into each other running after a pop fly. And of course there are some fans out there that like to watch a batter that has been dinged by a pitch rush the mound. Many people will remember Nolan Ryan putting Robin Ventura in a head lock and beating him when he was rushed. Take all of this from the game though and baseball is still great. There is no need for batters being hit or seeing them rush the mound.

So what is your take on it? It may all be a part of the game, but for lots of fans out there it is a part of the game we can certainly do without.
