The Owners Meet

Posted on: November 23, 2009 by admin

The owners of the MLB teams do more than write checks and own teams. Sometimes in their meetings they can literally discuss just about everything, from games running too long, the pluses and minuses of extra innings, to the economy. Well this year’s meetings seem to be focused on just that. The economy has been the talk in lots of business sectors. Why is the economy such a big deal with the MLB owners. Let’s just say that I wouldn’t hold your breath if you think that the players salaries are going to come down.

The biggest thing fans may want to know out of these meetings is that the teams will lower ticket prices. Now for some teams, the ones with new stadiums, this may not be the case. But it appears most teams may consider lowering ticket prices some to help draw in more fans next season.

There are lots of people in this country that love baseball. There are also lots of people out there that do not have the extra money to attend games. The best possible solution may be to lower prices or offer some special discount nights to games that tend to get lower attendances.
