Another MLB all star game is upon us for the 2010 season. And of course there are already tons of complaints flowing in as to who should not have made the team and tons saying many others should have made it. Of course not every one ends up with a chance to make it. There are many who think that there should be some sort of point system to determine who goes and who does not based on performance. The top performers it would seem would make sense as the best choices to be a part of the game. But it is also a popularity contest as well. The MLB wants people to watch the game, and if the more popular news making players were not there, then let’s face it, people would not watch as much of the game, if any at all.
For players it is still an honor to get invited though. It could help them when they ask for better contracts to have been several times showing that they are worthy of more money. So no matter what you think, sit back and at least try and enjoy the game. It can never be just as we want it.
