Baseball Great: Where Are They?

The whole steroid issue has really muddled up the sport of baseball. Well, actually most sports have had to deal with it in some form or fashion. But baseball really seems to be struggling with the issue; it seems players are admitting every season to have taken drugs at some point in their career. There is no point to mentioning names here, laying blame or trashing those players and the sport.
But years from now, will fans really look back at these players and consider them some of the greats of the game? I probably will not. Players of old, like Ruth, Mantle or DiMaggio I can get behind. But to me the controversies play in my mind too much now. No, not every player is taking enhancement drugs, lots are maybe but will we ever know, probably not.
What I do know that some of these players have definitely given the sport is a black eye! -One that will go down in history. The sport will have to deal with carrying this forever unless they step up and do something fast to fix it.
